How to save bookmarks to chrome. Create a backup of bookmarks in the Google Chrome browser. Export bookmarks from Chrome

Inexperienced PC users are wondering how to keep an open tab. This may be required in order to have quick access to the site you like or are interested in in the future. In today's article, we will talk about all the possible options for saving web pages.

By saving tabs, most users mean adding sites to bookmarks or exporting bookmarks already in the program (less often, one site). We will consider in detail both one and the other, but we will start with simpler and non-obvious nuances for beginners.

Method 1: Keep open sites after closing

It is not always necessary to directly save a web page. It is quite possible that it will be enough for you that when you start the browser, the same tabs will open that were active before it was closed. You can do this in the settings of Google Chrome.

With these simple steps, you'll never lose sight of your last visited websites, even after restarting or shutting down your computer.

Method 2: Bookmarking by standard means

We figured out how to save previously opened tabs after restarting the browser, now let's look at how to bookmark a site you like. You can do this both with a separate tab and with all currently open ones.

Adding one site

For these purposes in Google Chrome there is a special button located at the end (on the right) of the address bar.

Adding all open websites

  • Right-click ( right click mouse) on any of them and select the item "Add all tabs to bookmarks".
  • Use hotkeys "CTRL+SHIFT+D".

All pages opened in the Internet browser will immediately be added as bookmarks to the panel under the address bar.

Previously, you will have the opportunity to specify a folder name and choose a place to save it - directly to the panel itself or a separate directory on it.

Activating the display of the Bookmarks Bar

By default, this browser element is displayed only on its home page, directly below the Google Chrome search bar. But this can be changed quite easily.

For greater convenience and organization, the ability to create folders is provided. Thanks to this, you can, for example, group web pages by topic.

Method 3: Third Party Bookmark Managers

In addition to the standard "Bookmarks Bar", provided in Google Chrome, there are many more functional solutions for this browser. They are available in a wide range in the extension store. You just have to use the search and select the appropriate Bookmark Manager.

The best of this kind of products have already been reviewed on our website in a separate article, in which you will also find links to download them.

Among the abundance of available solutions, it is worth highlighting the Speed Dial as one of the most popular and easy to use. You can get acquainted with all the features of this browser add-on in a separate material.

Method 4: Sync Bookmarks

One of the most useful features of Google Chrome is data synchronization, which allows you to save bookmarked sites and even open tabs. Thanks to it, you can open a specific site on one device (for example, on a PC), and then continue working with it on another (for example, on a smartphone).

Now all the data you saved will be available on any other device, provided that you log into your profile in the Internet browser.

You can read more about the possibilities provided by data synchronization in Google Chrome in a separate article on our website.

Method 5: Export bookmarks

In cases where you plan to switch from Google Chrome to any other browser, but do not want to lose previously bookmarked sites, the export function will help. Turning to it, you can easily “move”, for example, to Mozilla Firefox, Opera, or even to the standard Windows browser Microsoft Edge.

Method 6: Save the page

You can save the page of the website you are interested in not only in your browser bookmarks, but also directly to disk, as a separate HTML file. Double-clicking on it will open the page in a new tab.

It is noteworthy that the site page saved in this way will be displayed in Google Chrome even without an Internet connection (but without the ability to navigate). In some cases, this can be extremely useful.

Method 7: Create a shortcut

By creating a site shortcut in Google Chrome, you can use it as a separate web application. Such a page will not only have its own icon (a favicon displayed on an open tab), but also open on the taskbar in a separate window, and not directly in a web browser. This is very convenient if you want to always keep the site of interest in front of your eyes, and not look for it in an abundance of other tabs. The algorithm of actions to be performed is similar to the previous method.

    1. Open the Google Chrome settings and select the items one by one "Additional Tools""Create Shortcut".
    2. In the pop-up window, give the shortcut a suitable name or leave the default value, then click on the button "Create".
    3. A shortcut to the site you saved will appear on the Windows desktop, which can be launched by double-clicking. By default, it will open in a new browser tab, but this can be changed.
    4. On the bookmarks bar, click the button "Applications"(previously called "Services").

Note: If the button "Applications" missing, go to the Google Chrome home page, right-click (RMB) on the bookmarks bar and select the menu item "Show Services button".
    5. Find the shortcut to the site that you saved as a web app in the second step, right-click on it and select the item from the menu "Open in new window".

    6. From now on, the site you saved will open as a standalone application and look the same.

Hi all! Once I needed to reinstall Windows 7 to a friend, to which he asked me this question: will the bookmarks be saved in Google Chrome? and then I have a lot of them there and you can’t lose them. To be honest, I was a little surprised. A person values these site addresses, but does not know how to save bookmarks in the Google Chrome browser.

Most recently, I already wrote a similar one, but only about the Mozilla Firefox browser. For Google Chrome (as for the most popular browser, although I don’t use it), I think it’s worth telling you not only how to save bookmarks in it, but also how to make sure that the bookmarks are synchronized between all your computers.

In fact, everything is simple. Save bookmarks in a separate file and hide it away in a safe place. When you need it - load it into Chrome - there is nothing supernatural here. Of course, it is worth doing this, despite the possibility of synchronization. Well, now let's look at everything in order.

By the way, in this note, the Goggle Chrome browser version 36 was used. So, click on the settings (three lines in the upper right corner), Bookmarks, Bookmark Manager (This whole combination can be replaced with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + O)

Click on the "Organize" button and select the line "Export bookmarks to HTML file ..."

A save form will open. Here we need to come up with a file name with future bookmarks (we are offered a bookmark and today's date - it suits me perfectly) and choose a place where to save it. I'll save it to documents, but you'd better save it to an external drive (for example, a USB flash drive).

We save and check - is our bookmark file in place?

Everything is in order, the file is exactly there - where we saved it. And what's next? - you ask. It’s even easier to do the same thing, only in reverse order. We load not into a file, but from it. We also stomp into Settings, Bookmarks, Bookmark Manager and select the item "Import bookmarks from HTML file ..."

In the form that opens, select the previously prepared file with the bookmarks we have saved and click "Open".

We wait a few seconds and voila - all your bookmarks are in place, however this is not the most convenient option, but the most reliable one!

How to sync bookmarks in Google Chrome?

If you need to save bookmarks only in order to later view them elsewhere, then it makes sense to set up synchronization. What will it give? - You will have one browser for several jobs. Here you have a computer at home, and there is at work. We added the page to bookmarks at home - and this bookmark appeared at work. In general, very comfortable - I recommend!

So how do you implement it? Everything in the world is simple! We go to "Settings" and select the item "Sign in to Chrome ..." (Do you have a Gmail account? If not, then register here)

Enter a name account and your password.

We see that everything is fine. This must be done on all computers - where synchronization is needed.

If you put convenience aside, you will notice that this is not a completely safe way, and along with it it is recommended to periodically save all our bookmarks to a file. In my practice, there was one unpleasant case when the virus deleted all bookmarks and assigned the left search engine to the main page. Synchronization did its dark work - it synchronized all the destructive changes on all devices.

So convenience is convenience, and you should not forget about safety. Well, now you know exactly how to save bookmarks in Google Chrome and such problems will bypass you! Until we meet again on the pages of my humble blog!

Bookmarks are used for quick access to visited pages. Have you thought about the question: what to do in order not to lose important information when reinstalling the system? Or maybe the browser has stopped working and you have to reinstall it? Consider how to save bookmarks in Google Chrome (Google Chrome).

What to do

Don't wait for the browser to stop working. Save your bookmarks in advance. Do not leave them on the disk where the OS is installed. Use a flash drive for this. Then import them.

What it is

How to transfer

We have looked at how to save Google Chrome bookmarks. Let's see how to transfer them. Press the button "Settings" - "Bookmarks" - "Dispatcher". Then "Management" - "Import".
Select a file with copies, click the "Open" button.

Now you can reinstall Google Chrome (Google Chrome) saving the bookmarks.
This method will not save visual bookmarks (the page where they are collected), and the bookmarks bar (displaying sites at the top of the screen).

How to save the bookmarks bar

Use sync. The advantage of this method is that everything will be saved on the Google server. When working on another PC, or after reinstalling the browser, you just need to log into your account. To do this, you must have a Google account. If not, create a mailbox. Next comes synchronization. Chrome will save bookmarks and . Exactly the same settings will appear as on the main browser.

In cases of PC crash or browser deletion, bookmarks will be saved because they will remain in Google account. Passwords, extensions, themes and settings are also synchronized.

How to save visual bookmarks

Click "Management" (three vertical dots), then "Settings".
In the "Users" section, select "Synchronization" At the first login, enter the login and password from Google mail. Click on the button in the form of a triangle to determine the data that will be synchronized.

I recommend to install "Synchronize all".

Conclusion

Reinstalling Windows or switching to a new computer inevitably leads to the need to redo all the settings. But if you set desired programs quite simple, then returning all the settings and bookmarks of the Google Chrome browser is not so simple. Most likely, you have a lot of different extensions there, and they are already configured in a way that suits you, as well as a bunch of necessary bookmarks. All this is simply unacceptable to lose. Therefore, the question arises: how to reliably save the settings of the Google Chrome browser along with all the bookmarks and then, when necessary, restore everything? The answer is very simple: you need to correctly save all the settings from the folder where the browser itself stores them. Here's how to do it and not lose anything, we'll show in this article.

AT Windows XP Google Chrome browser stores its settings in this path: С:\Documents and Settings\your_account_name\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\ User Data

AT Windows 7 the path to the settings is: С:\Users\your_account_name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data

Note, that the Local Settings folder with all its subfolders is hidden. To see them, you need to configure the display of hidden files and folders.

So, now we go directly to saving all settings and bookmarks. To do this, we will archive the folder where all the settings and bookmarks of the Google Chrome browser are stored, that is, we will create an archive. How archives are created in general is discussed in the articles: How to create and protect an archive and Create a self-extracting archive. This requires a program haozip.

This is how saving settings works in Windows 7 (it will be similar in other operating systems e.g. Windows XP)
Open the HaoZip archiver (you can use another archiver):

Now open the Users folder, then the folder with the name of your account, and then open the folders with these names in order: AppData\Local\Google\Chrome. The result will be like this:

There are two folders here. Settings are stored in the User Data folder. Here it needs to be archived. Click on the "Add" button

Click on the "Browse" button and specify the folder where the archive will be stored, in other words, a backup copy of all the settings of our browser. We can select any folder, preferably not on the drive that Windows is installed. We will save this archive to drive E. Screenshot:

The compression method is set to No Compression.

Now we press "OK". HaoZip will archive your Google Chrome settings. So, now we have a copy of the folder where all Google Chrome settings and bookmarks are stored.

Note: you may want to just copy the User Date folder without creating an archive. In this case, there may be errors when copying. It will be more reliable if you create an archive.

Now we can restore all settings and bookmarks of Google Chrome. To do this, open HaoZip and find the archive we created. Screenshot:

Click "Extract".

In the right part of the window, select the folder where the Google Chrome settings are stored and which we previously archived. As you already know, this folder is called User Date.

Note, that in Windows 7 the "Users" and "Users" folder is the same folder. Therefore, if you use the standard Windows 7 Explorer to navigate through folders, then the path to the settings will not be C:\Users\your_account_name\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data, but C:\Users\your_account_name\AppData\Local\ Google\Chrome\User Data. As you can see, the name "Users" is changed to "Users". That's the whole difference.

Here is the result:

We have selected the User Date folder and click "OK" to extract the contents of the archive there. After the extraction of files is completed, all settings and bookmarks will be restored.

This is how Google Chrome settings are saved and restored. (

How to save bookmarks in Google Chrome? Everyone knows that storing information only on a computer is at least frivolous. Technology, there is technology, and at any moment it can fail. Valuable information must be duplicated or stored not on the system disk, but on. Only in this case you can be more or less calm. We all have many useful bookmarks on the Internet.

And at any moment you can lose all this information. I've had cases like this before. Now I try to store everything of value on services or on an external hard drive. But I write especially valuable data to . You can, of course, on a flash drive, but this is not a reliable storage. At one point, the flash drive may simply not open.

I also include Internet bookmarks as particularly valuable data. I have a lot of them and such a loss for me will be a big blow. Therefore, I periodically save them to an external hard drive.

How to save bookmarksGoogle Chrome

On the Internet, I mainly work through the Google Chrome browser, although I have other browsers installed. I just got used to it. I know all of it, I know how to clear it from pages, pop-up windows, and even, I know how to save its bookmarks, and what to do if a warning pops up about an incorrect one. Therefore, I will describe the method of saving bookmarks using the Google Chrome browser as an example.

Bookmarks are saved easily and quickly. The main thing is to force yourself to do it, at least once every six months. I know from my own experience that lack of time and laziness often take precedence over reason. But how much easier life is acquired by the acquired habit of saving and duplicating everything.

So, let's start creating a backup file for Google Chrome bookmarks. To do this, go to the upper right corner of the browser, click on the three horizontal stripes, and select the link in the drop-down list Bookmarks - Bookmark Manager.

After that, we get to the Bookmark Manager, where we need to click on the small black arrow to the right of the entry Control.

At the very bottom of the list that opens, select the link Export bookmarks to fileHTML, and click on it. You should see a window to save the file. I chose a save location Desktop and pressed the button Save.

You can now drag or copy this file to a safe location. If you reinstall your system or browser, then this file can be downloaded in the same way as we did the download. List only Control, you will need to click on the Import bookmarks from HTML file link.

After that, restart your browser (exit google chrome and back in), and all your bookmarks will appear again.
