Our task is to create a convenient platform for joint online learning of schoolchildren. Most educational services are aimed either at universities and schools, or at teachers, or at parents. First of all, we think about children - schoolchildren who are faced with difficult issues.

Who in Russia are the main users of the School Knowledge network? Are there any differences between Russian and foreign audiences?

The main audience of our community is just those for whom it is created, that is, schoolchildren. Of course, there are also adults who want to help children understand difficult topics or solve interesting problems. There are also parents who begin to remember school subjects while studying with their children. In almost every country, the audience, of course, has its own specifics.

It seems to me that the Russian-speaking users of "Knowledge" are jealous of the rating system on the site and love to achieve new statuses. For example, a special “Expert” status was recently introduced for users who give the most complete and accurate answers. The technical feature of "Knowledge" is a large share mobile traffic. It's no secret that this is a global trend, but on our site we feel it especially strongly. Perhaps this is due to the age of the audience. For children, the Internet is, first of all, a phone or tablet.

What opportunities does the School Knowledge network provide to its users?

"Knowledge" works on the principle of reciprocity. The company was founded in Poland in 2009 and had the same name as the Polish version of the site - Zadane.pl. The name Brainly appeared in 2012, when the community grew to a global level. That's the name of the Brainly mobile app, and several local sites have also been renamed Brainly. Now the community operates in 35 countries in 12 languages ​​and has an audience of more than 40 million people.

Which team is currently working on mobile development?

The team consists of eight people, including engineers, iOS and Android developers and designers. They actively participate in various developer conferences and help other teams. For which mobile operating systems does the Znanija.com application already exist?

Brainly was released for Android and iOS at the same time and is available both in the App Store and in Google Play and other major stores. It, like the web version, is free. The main feature is that our users from all Brainly countries can work in it at the same time. Previously, we had separate applications for each language version, which was inconvenient in terms of development and support. By the way, in Russia, Brainly on Android has already taken first place on the Google Play chart in the Education category, and the iOS version is now in fourth place. Hopefully, we will soon be able to boast superiority on both platforms!

What is the difference between the functionality of the application and the desktop version?

Functional mobile application still inferior to the web version, but new features appear in it regularly. The most basic features have been left - posting a question, answering other people's questions, searching for questions and answers in our database, as well as exchanging private messages. The site has many more features, including viewing ratings.

The average response rate fluctuates over the course of the year, and is partly due to the school holidays, but in general it is quite high, as evidenced by the constant growth of our audience. For those who do not receive questions, we always advise you to pay attention to the form of the question. Does it contain enough data and conditions? Is it clearly stated? Is it polite? To maintain the service at a high level, we are helped, first of all, by moderators. These are volunteers - the most dedicated and active users who have the ability to remove inappropriate assignments, inappropriate answers and spam.

What do you think, if now the project has some shortcomings? What does he lack?

Brainly, of course, still has a long way to go - we would like the community to have more members - both at Znanija.com and in other countries, and not a single question, even in not the most "popular" subjects, was left without response. And I think we are moving in the right direction!

The use of "School Knowledge" is free. How does a company achieve commercial success?

Brainly is lucky: we can focus directly on the development and expansion of the community. In 2014, a round of investments was held and the project was supported by several funds that believe in our mission. We are exploring various options for monetization, but in any case, all basic features and access to the database of questions and answers will remain free.

What is the peculiarity of the development of the educational social network in Russia?

There are several large educational Internet projects in Russia, some of which have state or municipal support - they are tightly integrated into educational process and are closed networks. “Knowledge” is available to everyone, and exists outside the walls of the same class, so many participants stay on the site after graduation, because they find friends there with interests - I think this is especially true for mathematicians.
